8. August: Augenzeugen – die Fotografen Höpker, Lebeck, Moses und Scheler

Vier Fotografen nehmen sich in den späten Sechzigerjahren vor, die deutsche Reportagefotografie neu zu erfinden; ihr Medium ist die Illustrierte »Stern«. Regisseur Reiner Holzemer befragt sie zu ihren Vorhaben und ihren Werken.

Zum dritten Mal lädt das MuseumsJournal zur Open-Air-Filmreihe in den Garten des Podewil. In diesem Jahr präsentiert es gemeinsam mit dem EMOP Berlin – European Month of Photography – die beiden ebenso verwandten wie unterschiedlichen Medien Film und Fotografie. Genießen Sie diesen sommerlichen Prolog zur Berliner Ausgabe des europäischen Fotomonats, in dessen Programm Sie den einen oder anderen Namen aus dieser Filmreihe wiederfinden werden!

The exhibition Wim Wenders . Instant Stories, presenting a selection of approximately 240 Polaroids by the award-winning director, filmmaker, and artist Wim Wenders, will be making its first and only stop in Germany at C/O Berlin. Along with Wenders’ photographs, the exhibition includes excerpts from films in which Wenders used the medium of instant photography as part of the film narrative.

C/O Berlin is pleased to present the exhibition The Polaroid Project, exploring the Polaroid phenomenon in all its diversity with a unique overview of many of the Polaroid collections in the United States and Europe, including works by Nobuyoshi Araki, Sibylle Bergemann, Chuck Close, Guy Bourdin, Barbara Crane, David Hockney, Robert Mapplethorpe, Robert Rauschenberg, Erwin Wurm, and many more, together with camera models, concepts, and prototypes for the innovative photo technology.

Featuring around 180 works from 1917 to 2000, this exhibition highlights the variety of photographic portraits of artists, while also giving an overview of the Who's Who of art history in the last century. It features portraits of illustrious artists like Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Frida Kahlo, Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons and Marina Abramović, produced by an equally broad range of photographers, both famous or lesser known, including Berenice Abbott, Brassaï, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Helga Fietz and Jérôme Schlomoff.

Carla Sozzani, former editor-in-chief of the Italian Elle and Vogue magazines, has collected photographs for many years. Since 1990, she has also exhibited these works in her Milan gallery in close cooperation with numerous internationally renowned photographers – including Helmut Newton four times, "Ritratti di donna" in 1993, "Impressions, Polaroids" in 1996, "Us and them" in 1999, together with his wife June, aka Alice Springs, and "Yellow Press" in 2003.
